The Opening of the Irish Art Man Gallery and the Debra Ireland 500,000 Fund Raiser On Friday the 1st of August 2008. Also featuring the donation of a painting from The Irish Art Man to Debra Ireland to kick start their fund raiser.
The double launch of the Irish Art Man Gallery and the Debra Ireland 500,000 Fundraider will be held on Friday the 1st of August at 7.00pm in the Irish Art Man Gallery on Green Street, Dingle.
Both initiatives will be officially launched by Cllr. Michael Healy Rae, winner of RTEs Celebrities Go Wild Challenge at a reception in the Gallery on Green Street.
The Irish Art Man Gallery is owned and managed by James Thompson, a native of Dingle. James, who has been an avid collector of art for a number of years, gave up his horse riding business to focus solely on his love of art.
The Irish Art Man Gallery showcases a large selection of contemporary Irish art by leading Irish artists. The gallery is centrally located on Green Street in Dingle Town, across from St Mary's Church.
Ann Curran from Dingle, a member of Debra Ireland is launching her challenge of raising 500,000 to fund vital research into a cure for EB. DEBRA Ireland (the Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa Research Association) was set up by families of children with EB in 1988. They are funded by donations, fundraising and grant support. Ongoing support to the nursing and medical care of patients is a high priority.
Medical research is the key to finding an effective treatment for EB. DEBRA Ireland funds medical research programmes in Trinity College, Dublin, and co-funds the DEBRA Ireland - dEBra UK Cancer In EB Campaign.
General support, respite holidays, information and advice are provided to patients and their families by DEBRA Ireland.
The Irish Art Man Gallery has graciously donated a painting by James English RHA valued at 3200 to raffle and to kick start the DEBRA Ireland fund raiser. Tickets for the raffle cost 10 each and are on sale in different venues throughout Kerry.
